On Monday, 3 June 2024, FTI Touristik GmbH was the first company in the FTI GROUP to file for insolvency (to the press release). BigXtra Touristik GmbH and Flight Trading GmbH followed suit. FTI Voyages SAS declared in suspension of payments on 10 June 2024. On 24 June 2024, Meeting Point Hotelmanagement Holding GmbH and Meeting Point International GmbH filed for insolvency (to the press release). On 26 June 2024, the Swiss tour operators FTI Touristik AG and BigXtra Touristik AG filed an application to open insolvency proceedings.
All travel arrangements booked via FTI Touristik GmbH, 5vorFlug and BigXtra Touristik GmbH with a departure date up to and including Friday, 5 July 2024, were already cancelled (to the press release). From 6 July 2024, all package tours and certain individual services must unfortunately be cancelled (to the press release).
All trips booked via FTI Touristik AG and BigXtra Touristik AG must unfortunately be cancelled from 21 June 2024. Trips booked via FTI Voyages SAS will be cancelled free of charge from 16 July 2024 onwards.
Individual services that must be cancelled are all car rental bookings of the brands DriveFTI and Cars & Camper, hotel-only services booked via FTI Touristik, 5vorFlug or BigXtra Touristik as well as transfers and excursions in the destination booked via FTI Touristik, 5vorFlug, BigXtra Touristik or Meeting Point International. All individual services mentioned do not fall under the statutory insurance protection for package holidays and are therefore not covered by the German Travel Security Fund.
Flight-only bookings for which tickets have already been issued can be carried out - the tickets remain valid. However, if the ticket has not yet been issued, the booking must unfortunately be cancelled. Flight-only services are not covered by the statutory insurance protection of the German Travel Guarantee Fund.
Please note: Package holidays with a motorhome included as well as round trips are generally classed as package holidays and are therefore covered by the German Travel Guarantee Fund. The refund of scheduled flights in conjunction with other individual services are still under review. We are endeavouring to clarify this for our customers.
On this page we would like to try to answer your most important questions. Please read the information provided carefully. If you need more information, you can contact the German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” - DRSF) service hotline on +49 (0)30 78954770 from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 11 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am to 7 pm. For travel service providers, the DRSF has set up the additional service number +49 (0)30 258987221.
In general, all services booked with the travel provider FTI Touristik GmbH are affected. This includes the FTI brand in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and France, the 5vorFlug brand in Germany, BigXtra Touristik GmbH and the car hire brands DriveFTI, Cars & Camper and Meeting Point Rent-a-Car. Services booked with these tour operators are affected if they were booked via stationary travel agencies, on online booking platforms such as Check24, Ab-In-den-Urlaub, HolidayCheck, etc. or on our own platforms (fti.de, fti.at, fti.ch, fti.nl, 5vorflug.de, drive.de, ...).
Not affected are services booked with third-party providers (e.g. TUI, Alltours, DERTOUR, vtours, ...) that have been booked via the portals of FTI Touristik GmbH or BigXtra Touristik GmbH as well as sonnenklar.TV.
FTI Touristik GmbH and BigXtra Touristik GmbH have applied for insolvency.
On 3 June 2024 and 6 June 2024, the Munich Local Court for Department for Insolvency Matters, appointed Axel W. Bierbach from the law firm Müller-Heydenreich Bierbach & Kollegen (Munich) as the preliminary insolvency administrator. A decision on the opening of proceedings is expected in September 2024 - at the earliest.
It is only possible to register any claims in the insolvency once insolvency proceedings have been opened.
You will receive a creditor letter when insolvency proceedings are opened. Please do not register your claim until you have received the letter from the creditor using the PIN (personal identification number) provided in the letter. Please wait until you receive this letter of demand. This PIN will facilitate and speed up the processing of your claim registration.
In this case, the German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) applies. In cooperation with the DRSF, we will ensure you can complete your trip as planned. If this is not possible, a return journey to your original point of departure will be organized for you. In this case, you will be contacted directly in coordination with DRSF service providers. Information on this can also be found on the DRSF website (www.drsf.reise).
If you have booked a trip via the websites www.fti.de, www.fti.at, www.fti.ch oder www.5vorflug.de with a travel provider that is not part of the FTI GROUP - for example TUI, Alltours, DERTOUR, vtours, etc. - then you are not affected by the insolvency proceedings. Your travel provider can answer any further questions directly.
(Note: A package holiday is a combination of at least two different types of travel services - transport, accommodation, vehicle hire and other tourist services - for the purpose of the same trip. For example, a combination of hotel accommodation and flight. Round trips are also considered package holidays and are therefore covered by the DRSF.)
As a package holiday guest, you don't need to worry! No package holidaymaker in the destinations affected by the FTI insolvency will be left out in the cold. Your hotel stay is covered by the German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) and the external tour operator commissioned to look after you in the destination area will take care of these matters for you with immediate effect.

All paid package holiday services are covered by the German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) and the external tour operator commissioned to look after you in the destination will take care of these matters for you with immediate effect.
In principle, the German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) also reimburses additional payments made privately, if package holidaymakers can prove payments with necessary documents. An examination is necessary in each individual case. Please understand that we cannot provide any blanket guarantees for additional payments made privately in any amount.
The German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) works with partners in the most important travel destinations, which can help travelers quickly and pragmatically in all situations. Those responsible partners contact the travelers directly. If you do not know who is responsible for you, you can contact the DRSF service hotline on +49 (0)30 78954770 from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 11 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am to 7 pm.
Unfortunately, we are forced to cancel these booked services.
If you have booked a package holiday, you are covered by the German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF). As part of its legal mandate, the DRSF will ensure that the payments you have made are refunded. It will contact you as soon as all current travellers have been recalled and the data has been evaluated and transferred. At this point, we would ask you to refrain from making last-minute requests for refunds, as these can only be organized in the coming days and weeks.
Individual services, such as flights only, hotel accommodation only, transfers only or similar, unfortunately do not fall under the statutory cover for package holidays and are therefore not covered by the DRSF.

If you have booked hotel services with a travel provider that is not part of the FTI GROUP - for example TUI, Alltours, DERTOUR, vtours - and have paid for these directly, then you are not affected by the insolvency proceedings. Your travel provider can answer further questions directly.
No. As the package holiday is covered by the German Travel Security Fund ("Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds" - DRSF), it cannot be converted into an individual service (e.g. flight only). The package tours have already all been cancelled and you can request a refund from the DRSF.
If you have only booked a flight and your ticket has already been issued, your booking will be maintained. To ensure that you will be informed of any flight changes in the future, please contact your travel agency directly. You also have the option to register your email address directly with the airline you have booked with.
All bookings of scheduled flights ONLY with departure from 8 July 2024 onwards, which have already been paid by FTI to the airlines, have been informed that the trip can take place. This only applies to direct payment and agency payment transactions.
If you no longer wish to travel, please send an email to flight-solution@fti.de and we will cancel your booking.
If your flight ticket has not yet been issued, we will unfortunately have to cancel your booking. Unfortunately, a flights-only booking does not fall under the statutory insurance protection for package holidays and is therefore not covered by the German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF).
DRSF Call Center
Due to the high volume of calls, the DRSF has added another call centre with additional staff. The DRSF call centre can be reached Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on +49 (0)30 78954770. For travel service providers, the DRSF has set up the additional service number +49 (0)30 258987221.
Consumers who have booked a package holiday are covered by the German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) and do not have to do anything initially. The DRSF is working closely with FTI Touristik GmbH, BigXtra Touristik GmbH, the preliminary insolvency administrator and other parties to prepare the reimbursement of claims covered by the DRSF. The DRSF will actively contact affected consumers as soon as all data required for the reimbursement process is available and reviewed.
The German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) is further developing its unbureaucratic assistance services for package holidaymakers who have already started their holiday. As part of this, it is now also reimbursing costs for trips taken before 3 June 2024. If you have incurred costs out of your own pocket to continue your holiday, these will be reimbursed by the DRSF.
Formally, the DRSF is only responsible from the date on which FTI Touristik GmbH filed for insolvency, i.e. for all trips from 3 June 2024 onwards. For these, the DRSF already submitted declarations of assumption of costs on 4 June 2024, which you can submit to the hoteliers. However, there are also trips that began before 3 June 2024 and are still ongoing. In these cases, holidaymakers are also often confronted with demands to pay for their stay themselves.
If this applies to you, you should document the payment with an invoice or receipt from the hotel. Beyond that, you do not have to do anything for the time being. Dhe DRSF will actively contact affected consumers as soon as the travel data required for the reimbursement process is available and has been analysed.
We recommend that you keep all booking documents of your trip. The German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) insurance certificate enclosed with the booking documents is particularly important. If you have made payments out of your own pocket on site in order to continue your holiday, you should be sure to keep and present your receipt or invoice for this payment. The proof of payment for your payment to FTI must also be submitted as part of the later reimbursement process with the DRSF.
Consumers do not have to do anything initially. The German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) is working closely with FTI Touristik GmbH, BigXtra Touristik GmbH, the preliminary insolvency administrator and other parties to prepare the reimbursement of claims covered by the DRSF. The DRSF will actively contact affected consumers as soon as the competent court has ruled on the insolvency petition and all data required for the reimbursement process is available.
We ask for your understanding that we are not yet able to provide exact details on the duration of the reimbursement process. The German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) is working closely with FTI Touristik GmbH, BigXtra Touristik GmbH, the preliminary insolvency administrator and other parties to prepare the reimbursement of secured claims.
If your payment service provider has fulfilled your chargeback request and your deposit or payment has already been refunded, you no longer have a claim against the German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF).
If your payment service provider has not yet fulfilled your reclaim, you can continue to submit a refund claim to the DRSF until the payments have been refunded.
Please note:
The reimbursement process has started.
The German Travel Security Fund ("Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds" – DRSF) protects consumers who are affected by the insolvency of FTI Touristik GmbH or BigXtra Touristik GmbH and have booked a package holiday in accordance with Section 651a BGB or associated travel services in accordance with Section 651w BGB.
The process for refunding down payments made for cancelled trips and for payments made on site in holiday destinations to continue a trip that has already begun has started. This means that the DRSF is now actively contacting all eligible consumers who have provided the necessary contact details by email.
People whose complete details have not yet been made available to the DRSF will be given the opportunity to register for the refund process and submit the necessary data. These consumers will first be contacted by post. They can then submit their data directly via an online form on the DRSF website.
All information about your refund can be found on the following DRSF page: https://drsf.reise/informationsueberlick-zur-insolvenz-der-fti-group/
Consumers who cannot find answers to their questions on these pages can also contact the DRSF service hotline on +49 (0)30 78954770 from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 11 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am to 7 pm. For travel service providers, an additional service number has been set up: +49 (0)30 258987221.
All package holidaymakers who have booked a holiday with FTI and are staying at the holiday destination will be reclaimed by the German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) or an authorised company if necessary. The DRSF also helps customers who have booked a package holiday but were unable to take it due to insolvency.
As part of its legal mandate, the DRSF will ensure that payments made are refunded. It will contact affected travellers as soon as all current travellers have been recalled and the data has been evaluated and transferred. Corresponding details will be communicated via the DRSF or FTI website. Further information can be found at www.drsf.reise.

Have you made a car hire or motorhome booking via the DriveFTI, Cars & Camper or Meeting Point Rent-a-Car brands? Unfortunately, individual services are not covered by the statutory cover for package holidays and are therefore not covered by the German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF).
The German Travel Security Fund (“Deutscher Reisesicherungsfonds” – DRSF) is responsible for all holidays sold by companies that were covered by the DRSF. The nationality of the travellers is irrelevant: package tours booked with the companies FTI Touristik GmbH and BigXtra Touristik GmbH, for which an insurance contract existed with the DRSF and for which a travel insurance certificate is available, are covered. This does not apply to holidays sold via FTI Voyages SAS or FTI Schweiz AG. The respective local insurer/insurers are responsible in this case. You can find more detailed information in the separate FAQs on our FTI GROUP website.
