On 26 June 2024, FTI Touristik AG and BigXtra Touristik AG filed an application for the opening of insolvency proceedings at the civil court in Arlesheim.
Earlier, FTI Touristik GmbH, the parent company of the FTI GROUP, announced on 3 June 2024 that it has filed for the opening of insolvency proceedings in Germany.
As FTI Touristik GmbH is our main provider of package holidays, all bookings with a departure date from 21 June 2024 have been cancelled free of charge. This was also done due to the economic situation of FTI Touristik AG, the lack of visibility of a possible short-term takeover of the company and in the interest of all customers and stakeholders.
As you are no doubt aware, FTI Touristik GmbH, the parent company of the FTI GROUP, filed for insolvency on Monday 3 June 2024 (you can view the press release for further details).
We understand that you are concerned and have questions about your booking. In order to help you in this situation in the best possible way, we have compiled important answers and explanations regarding the insolvency of FTI Touristik GmbH.
Bookings made by agencies that have already made a full or partial payment for a package based on GDS or low-cost flights will not be cancelled.
Issued PNRs relating to packages purchased by agencies that have paid a deposit or the full price (unless the travel agency has requested cancellation of the package free of charge) will be retained. The agencies concerned will be contacted directly by FTI.
It is not possible to only pay for the flight part of a booking.
FTI Touristik AG will therefore not cancel tickets issued and paid for to FTI Touristik AG (unless the agencies concerned have requested that). However, FTI Touristik AG cannot guarantee that the PNRs transferred will be maintained over time, as this depends primarily on the airline concerned and/or possible decisions by the insolvency administrator, who may have to be involved.
